Behind the Genetics
The Enigma Psilocybe Cubensis is a rare mutation stemming from two powerhouse cubensis strains, Penis Envy and Tidal Wave. Due to its unusual shape of dense mycelium kernels, the Enigma mushroom does not produce spores. Instead, it remains within a single generation through clones.
This makes cultivating Enigma mushrooms a unique challenge. Without spores, traditional propagation methods are not an option. Instead, growers must rely on tissue culture techniques to clone and perpetuate the mutation.
Psychedelic Properties
Like other Psilocybe cubensis strains, Enigma mushrooms contain the psychoactive compounds psilocybin and psilocin. These compounds, or tryptamines, are responsible for the psychedelic effects experienced when the mushrooms are consumed.
Enigma mushrooms, however, report a total tryptamine content of 3.8%, compared to the average cubensis at 0.7%. These findings make this strain stand out as nearly four times more potent than other psychedelic mushrooms.
